So I spent last Friday with my grandmother taking her shopping for her birthday. Our relationship is interesting to say the least. I mean, I love her to death, but the person I knew when I was a kid is definitely different then the person that I have come to know as an adult. There are just some aspects that have opened up my eyes not only to her but other members of my family as the years go by. But with everything in life, I take the bitter with the sweet. We really had a good time, and I hope she knows how much it meant to me as it did to her.
On Saturday I did a little shopping, just here and there, nothing really major to say the least. I even had the chance to start some early holiday shopping while I had the means to do it now. Figured I'd get some of it done now, and slowly complete who's on my list as the weeks progress.
I have always tried to be a supporter of independent movies, so Saturday night when my good friend called me up to see if I wanted to go see, Southland Tales, I was like "sure, why not?" The cast seemed to be people I like, hell I remember Sarah Michelle Geller(Prinze) when she was all but a teenager playing the great Erica Kane's eldest daughter that she gave up for adoption on All My Children. Yeah, I watch some soaps every now and again, so what!? It also has Seann William Scott, Mandy Moore, and a few other characters that I was familiar with. Now I knew that the movie was going to be strange, but how strange would be the bigger question. All I can really say is that this was one time where I did not particularly care for the movie. It will not be one of those, run out and by the DVD when it's released type movies. It's one of those, if I see it on cable and there's absolutely nothing on TV and it's raining outside type of movies. It's been quite awhile since I left a theatre feeling like there was nothing that I could take away from the movie. I feel that in an effort to be clever, some how the movie sort of just lost me and I was ready to curl up and go to bed. I mean there are a few plot points that make you go hmmmm, this could be possible, but then it jumps right back out into left field. Although talent was wasted, not to mention my 10 bucks, I will not let this mistake deter me from seeing a few more movies that are out or about to be released.

Well just be glad that you didn't go see "BUG". The last guy I was seeing convinced me to go see it and it was the WORST movie ever made.
